Common questions about ultrasound cost
- Why is an ultrasound cheaper here than at a hospital?
- Freestanding outpatient centers like ours don't add the hospital facility fee charged on top of the scan itself. We publish a single all-in self-pay price instead.
- Do I need a doctor's order for an ultrasound?
- Yes. A diagnostic ultrasound requires a written order from your physician, which tells us exactly which study to perform and what the radiologist should evaluate.
- Do I need to prepare for an ultrasound?
- It depends on the study — some require fasting, others a full bladder, and many need no preparation at all. Find your exam on our ultrasound prep page before your visit.
- Can I get an exact price before my appointment?
- Yes. Request a free Good Faith Estimate and we'll quote your specific study in writing — email billing@cvimaging.net or call (949) 215-3304.
