What the exam is
X-Ray is a digital radiography exam used to help your physician diagnose conditions with precision and clarity. At CVI, every exam is performed by an ARRT-registered technologist and read by a board-certified, fellowship-trained radiologist.
How to prepare
No preparation required. Weight limit 350 lbs. Minimum age 5 (ages 3–5 must hold still). Notify us if pregnant or possibly pregnant — X-ray is generally avoided during pregnancy unless medically necessary.
What to expect
- Check-inSave time by completing your patient forms online before you arrive — or fill them out on one of our in-office iPad kiosks when you get here. Either way, please arrive 15 minutes early.
- The scanPlan on 5–10 min in the imaging suite. Complex or specialty MRIs can run longer — we'll tell you the exact time when you book.
- The readYour study is read by one of our board-certified radiologists. Standard reports are typically signed within 1–2 business days; STAT reads come back same-day.
- The reportYour signed report and images are sent directly to your ordering physician, who will contact you. You can also access them 24/7 on the Patient Portal.
